There are six primary grades of Kona coffee, consisting of Extra Fancy, Fancy, Number 1, Peaberry, Select, and Prime. The Extra Fancy Kona coffee bean is the largest and has the fewest defects, followed by Fancy, No. 1, Select, and then Prime. The Peaberry Kona coffee bean, representing a tiny fraction of the total Kona crop, is a differently shaped bean from the other graded kona coffee beans. Whereas a typical Kona coffee bean is flat on one side and curved on the other, the Peaberry bean is rounded and oblong in nature.
For years, visitors to Hawaii have been bringing a taste of Hawaii home with them in the form of 100% Kona coffee. Now you can have it shipped directly to you.
The unique environment of the tiny Kona Coffee Belt, only about 2 miles by 15 miles, creates the ideal growing conditions for premium quality coffee beans. Coffee trees flourish on the Kona volcanic slopes under warm morning sunshine and afternoon cloud cover.
Individually hand-picking the coffee cherries at the peak of ripeness, our coffee is then sun-dried to bring out its characteristic flavor. The final step is artisan micro-roasting at the sustainable farms in small batches, helping to ensure the freshness of each and every bag of Hawaii Roasters 100% Kona coffee..
Complex fragrant notes with a lingering sweetness. A chocolaty aroma seeps right from your nose through your veins. Hints of almonds and vanilla. Herbicide & pesticide FREE! ATTENTION: These medium roasted beans do NOT have an oily surface! Sometimes customers are not accustomed to lighter roasts, and wrongfully think the beans would therefore not be fresh. Which is not the case as we go to great efforts to roast only immediately before shipment. If you prefer a darker roast where the aromatic oils have risen to the surface of the beans, please chose our Dark Roast Blue Horse Kona coffee. Mahalo!
