Parker Ranch surrounds the town of Waimea/Kamuela and spreads between the great volcanoes of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea towards the Kohala Coast. Today, the Ranch is a diverse company whose businesses include cattle ranching and visitor activities. Between 30,000 and 35,000 head of Angus and Charolais cattle produce USDA choice beef.

Each July Fourth and Labor Day, Parker Ranch hosts its own rodeo in The Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena which is complete with a racing track and bandstands. It is situated beneath majestic Mauna Kea mountain on one side and the dramatic Kohala Mountains on the other. The rodeo arena has long been used by Big Island paniolo for days of fun competition.
